A couple of weeks ago I went up to the folks place in Cleveland, TN to bottle my Irish Amber Ale. Since it was a three day weekend we decided to go ahead and start another batch the next day. This time we're shooting for a light crisp Summer Blonde Ale for the hot days coming up. I got some good pictures of the sparge manifold that I built for the last batch and this time we built a hot water sprinkler to suspend above the mash for a more consistent flow. The sparge process went really well this time and we only had to stir things up and re-suspend once. The boil process was smooth and painless and we used to laundry room cold water for the wort chiller. We routed the hot water from the cold break process into the tub of the washing machine so mom could do a load of laundry afterwards. TwigFu is keeping things green where we can! We got the wort into the primary and pitched a Burton Ale yeast. Less than 24 hours later we had a really good chug going on the air lock. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go up and bottle next weekend. |

No bueno
I cracked open a bottle of this the other night and it has a definite chlorophenol taste. It's like anbesol beer. I have no idea wether that will age out or if this is a 'dump the batch' case. Not happy about it.
