Who is this guy and what the heck is TwigFu? Good questions. I guess to sum up would be to say that I'm an outdoors enthusiast, linux geek, music lover, beer brewer, culinary narcissist, husband and father. Being outdoors is one of my great loves. It's exiting to be out and free and to see places that only a minority of the population ever make it to see. Unfortunately, life has taken over and I don't get to go as much as I would like. I spent four summers working as a summer camp staff and it was hands down the best job I've ever had. Too bad you can't raise a family on that pay scale! Linux and open source software is one of my big passions. I believe that in a lot of cases, a community of like minded individuals can do better in their spare time that a for-profit corporation. I try to help people and organizations understand what open source software can do for them whenever I can. Lately I've taken to brewing my own beer again. I used to do this with my dad using malt extract kits and it was hit or miss. Now I brew all-grain like the big boys and I love it! My wife likes to tell people the stories of how when I cook I'm always saying things like 'ooh, the flavors' and 'this is incredible' and when she cooks all she gets is 'this is good'. I guess in a way you could say I'm a food snob. Either that or I really got used to my own cooking being single for all those years. Most importantly I have to mention my family. I'm married to a wonderful teacher and we have the most amazing daughter on the planet (even though she currently only eats fruit and cheese and doesn't like to go to bed). Without them, none of this other stuff would have nearly so much meaning. -chuck |
